Week 4 in Mexico CCM

Friday is our favorite day of the week now! We heard from Nathaniel today. He was able to go to the temple, which is great, but it also means he didn’t have much time for a group email. Here are a few things from him:
"On Friday, we had a great devotional by Elder Bednar about asking and learning in faith. My Spanish knowledge is increasing immensely. I'm learning a lot of things to become a better missionary. Every day kinda feels the same, but I do like it here. I really want to get out into the field though!"

This is his view from the MTC/CCM

He says they joke that it feels like a prison with all the walls, lol.  It actually makes me feel good to know they work hard to keep them safe.

Here he is with the box of goodies we sent him through the delivery service

He has such a great attitude and he really seems to be doing well. I can’t believe he’s over halfway done at the MTC/CCM!

Week 3 in Mexico CCM

Hi everybody! I'm sorry that I haven't emailed yet, but I've been super busy at the MTC, and last week I didn't get alot of email time because I went to the Mexico City Temple that day as well, which was SO cool! It looked like an ancient Mayan temple, and it was super cool to see how the Mexican culture was incorporated, while still looking like a temple. I got to do a family name at the temple, which was a super cool experience, considering it was in a foreign country. For the most part, all of the days here have kind of blended into one long day of church and Spanish class. I've really begun to enjoy studying my scriptures so much. I liked the scriptures before, but it's on a different level here. I've learned tons of spanish and have been able to memorize lots of scriptures and lesson concepts in Spanish. My companion, Elder Madsen, is super cool, so that's awesome. We have the same kind of personality, so it's really easy to connect with each other. The food here is pretty great, and I get to have gym time everyday, which is nice. I've become really good at Volleyball, haha. I really like the MTC and am super excited to serve the people of Bolivia for these next two years. I hope all you guys are having a great time in your lives right now!

Love,
Elder May

First P-Day for Elder May and First Companion, Elder Madsen

Nathaniel seems to be doing great in the Mexico missionary training center! He was sick with the stomach flu last week, poor guy, but he is feeling better now. I guess it was going around and many of them got sick. He had a very limited amount of time to email and wasn't able to do a big group email to everyone like he had hoped. It was so wonderful to hear from him, though, and I can share a few things he told us. He has a very nice companion and they went to the Mexico City temple today. He is working so hard on learning Spanish and it is going well. He took Spanish in high school, but there is still much for him to learn so he can communicate with and teach the people of Bolivia. Everything he said was positive (except for the stomach flu part!) and I am so happy he is doing well!!!

Here was his study area while he was sick

Elder May at the Mexico CCM

I can't tell you how glad I was to see these pictures of my boy at the Mexico MTC/CCM while I waited to hear from him.  I'm so grateful to my friend Candi Williams for telling me about the Facebook page!  I have it set so that any pictures from that page show up at the top of my Facebook feed.

I'm assuming this was taken on August 7 as he was writing us the email to tell us he arrived safely.

This is such a big group of incoming missionaries.  It's hard to find him, but he is in the third row from the back and the sixth person from the right.  Do you see him?

And off he goes...

Nathaniel left for the Mexico Missionary Training Center this morning.  It was painful to say goodbye, but we've all had a good cry and we're doing OK.  We are so proud of him and so glad he has chosen to serve a mission.
We love our Elder May!
